Why do I have to apply through my college?
The University of London with its constituent colleges has more than 170 000 students. In order to manage the accommodation process more efficiently, each of these colleges receives a quota of the rooms available at the Intercollegiate Halls. Because most of the colleges have their own halls of residence, this ensures that students do not have to submit two separate applications (one for the Intercollegiate Halls and one for the halls of their college). This also makes the process fairer, as a college can assess the situation of all its applicants and offer them accommodation accordingly.
There are some accommodation options offered to full-time students at any public university. Please check How to Apply page for more details.
